About Realtek Bluetooth

Realtek Bluetooth appears in two forms:

• the Bluetooth half of a Realtek Wi-Fi combo card in a laptop — for example RTL8852BE/AE/CE or RTL8821CE/RTL8822CE;
• small USB Bluetooth 5.x dongles based on the RTL8761B chip.

In both cases Windows sees a USB device with vendor ID VID_0BDA (dongles sold under other brands may use their own vendor ID).

Install the driver

1. Check the hardware ID in Device Manager and compare it with the list below.
2. Install the latest Realtek Bluetooth driver from this page and restart.
3. The device appears under Bluetooth as Realtek Bluetooth 5.x Adapter.

Troubleshooting

• Bluetooth toggle missing in Settings — the driver is not installed or the device is disabled; also check Airplane mode.
• Headphones stutter — keep the laptop’s Wi-Fi on 5 GHz: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth share the same radio band on combo cards.
• USB dongle not recognised — plug it into a rear USB 2.0/3.0 port directly; front-panel ports and hubs often cause interference or power issues.

Linux supports Realtek Bluetooth with btusb/btrtl and firmware from linux-firmware.
